From the moment I laid eyes on Wolfe Calloway, I promised myself I wouldnât fall for him, but thatâs exactly what I did. He had done something to me. There wasnât a doubt in my mind that I wasnât the same. It felt like I caught feelings for him in an instant, and I couldnât erase them. Being around Wolfe was the first time Iâd been able to look at things with the âglass half fullâ mentality instead of the other way around.
Since returning from Greece, Wolfe and I had spent many nights together, making memories and keeping each other smiling. Iâd fallen for Wolfe harder than Iâd ever fallen for any man in my life. A large chunk of me was scared shitless. My biggest fear was losing myself in the savage, beautiful man Iâd fallen in love with. He made me want to listen to love songs⦠and not make love, letâs go half on a baby, love songs, but that âTell Me Itâs Realâ, I canât live my life without you by my side type of love songs. He made me want to love again. Like, fall deep, hard and fast with no parachute and be fine with that because his love would be the net that caught me, the arms I fell into when I seemed to hit rock bottom. My love for him was no ordinary shit because my love was never cute or pretty. It was pure. It was raw. It was all for him.
Whenever we werenât around each other, we were constantly texting back and forth like a couple of teenagers. I always found myself smiling at nothing. Any time he was around me I would get a fluttering in my stomach that I hadnât felt since my first kiss in middle school. As soon as he pulled up to my front door, he pulled me into his arms.
âWhat up, girl?â I asked.
âAh, shit,â I said, sucking in air through my teeth and holding my back.
âYou aight?â
âYeah, itâs just my lower back has been hurting.â
âFor how long?â
I shrugged one shoulder. âI donât know. A week, maybe.â
âYou want me to massage it?â
âCan you, please?â
He followed me over to the couch, and I stretched across it. I pulled my shirt over my head and kept my bra on.
âDamn,â he said.
âWhat?â
âYour titties lookinâ juicier than usual.â
âShut up!â
âAre you pregnant?â he asked me.
âWhat? No. No! At least I donât think so.â
âYou need to go take a test,â he said as he rested his hand on his belt buckle.
âFine, Iâll take one tomorrow, and Iâll let you know what it says.â
âFuck that. You gonâ take one today. Right now,â he told me.
âI donât even have a test.â
âLetâs go to the store then.â
Wolfe took me to the store, and I picked up a test. Instead of waiting until we got back to my place, I went right into the bathroom. My pulse was racing as I took the test out of the box and pulled my jeans and panties down.
